Benefits, Uses and How to Make Pineapple Hydrosol

If you love pineapple this hydrosol is a must have. It brings the wonderful pineapple aroma into a bottle. No sugar, only the sweet aroma!

Benefits and uses of pineapple hydrosol:

Before we go into details I would like share a bit of chemistry. It won’t be long, I promise!

Within pineapple hydrosol, there are two major chemicals: propanoic acid ethyl ester and lactic acid ethyl ester. (There are tens of chemicals in hydrosol but these two are the top concentration compounds.)

Propanoic acid ethyl ester is the chemical having the great pineapple aroma. Lactic acid ethyl ester has many functions including solvent for grease, flavor additive in food, drink, candy, etc. It is the active ingredient in many anti-acne preparations.

Thanks to the chemicals, pineapple hydrosol has the following uses:

  1. Facial cleanser

  2. Cosmetic remover

  3. Anti-acne spray

  4. Air freshener and aromatherapy

  5. Tonic drink.

Most hydrosol can be used to make drink. Pineapple hydrosol is one of the best. The general recipe is 2 tablespoons of hydrosol in 1 liter of water. Drink the 1 liter of tonic water within a day. Continue 2 weeks and take 1 week break for best medicinal benefits.

That is great! Question is:

How to make pineapple hydrosol?

Good news are (1) it is no hard; (2) you can use pineapple “waste”, its peel and core, to make it.

Step 1: Cut the material into small pieces. I am using core in this blog. For pineapple peel, please watch my video.

Step 2: Place the pieces into steamer cup. Here is KD5 distiller, but LT3000 can also be used to make.

Step 3: Add filtered water into pot and connect with the condenser.

Step 4: Turn on heat. You can use hot plate or stove.

Step 5: Add cold water into condenser. If you have ice cubes, use it. It can help reduce times to replace hot water in condenser.

Step 6: Collect your fresh made pineapple hydrosol.
